It is now official, starting from Saturday, June 19, 2021, COPAR (Cooperativa Olivicoltori del Parteolla) will continuously open its doors to external visitors, that is, the hospitality service will be activated (a term used by industry professionals to indicate the possibility of visiting production companies and tasting their products). This news, as a Food and Wine Guide and EVO Oil expert, can only make me enthusiastic, because it will finally be possible to visit one of the most important production realities in all of Sardinia, both for the table olive sector and for extra virgin olive oil.

“The cooperative was founded in December 1962 by a group of 31 citizens and olive growers from Dolianova, with the aim of improving the quality, productivity, and marketability of a product already excellent by nature. Olive cultivation, rooted in the territory for centuries, had over time maintained a treatment lacking improvements and due attention. It was time to make the leap in quality, the goal was to improve, enhance, and make marketable a product that already had great value. The Parteolla growers carried on their shoulders a long tradition that cannot even be traced through history books. Already in the time of the Phoenician-Punic, several centuries before Christ, olive fruits were harvested in Parteolla. After initial difficulties, in the 1980s, the organization of the production chain, training, and new technologies began to yield the first results. The administration opened up to new markets, the quality of the product progressively improved over the years and with it came the first recognitions. Today there are over 1300 hectares cultivated by our members, for a total of over 169,000 olive trees, distributed among the 432 actual members of the cooperative, who currently carry on this ancient vocation with pride and passion."

Starting from Saturday, June 19, the company will take a further step forward, investing in the hospitality service. It will be possible to visit the production site (table olive area and oil mill) from Monday to Saturday with 2 daily tours: the morning tour starting at 10:00 a.m. and the afternoon tour starting at 3:30 p.m. On Saturdays, the tour will only be available in the morning. The cost is 15 euros for adults and 5 euros for children. Given the particular restrictions of the moment, to ensure the safety of visitors and operators, a maximum of 10 people will be allowed per tour. If there is a request for a larger group, separate tours will be created, with different guides, and with a departure interval of at least 30 minutes, to avoid gatherings in the production areas. The minimum number of participants required to activate a tour is 2 people. Each tour will last about 2 - 2.5 hours, including the guided tasting of the products. Tours and the final tasting will be conducted under the guidance of professionals in the food and wine sector. At the end of the visit, a tasty gift is also provided. To visit the site, it is necessary to book by calling Copar's number 070.741329 (selecting key 7 – guided tours), or by visiting the website and filling out the appropriate form in the TOUR section. The tour includes a visit to the area dedicated to the production of table olives and then to the oil mill. The visit continues with the viewing of a video that tells the main production steps and then continues with the guided tasting of the following products: Visits will be carried out in compliance with the Covid 19 Protocol. The use of a mask will be mandatory during the visit to the production areas and outdoors if it is not possible to maintain the physical distancing required by current regulations. All that's left is to book the tour to discover Copar and its products.
